Moosehead Solar originated on the shores
of Moosehead Lake in 1998. My wife and I moved to
the wilderness area to enjoy the quiet experience
of living on the lake in the woods. At that time
I wrote computer software and our generator was
the only source of providing power. Thus our generator
was in use an average of 10 to 14 hours a day. The
tranquility that had attracted us to this area was
gone.
Thus, my wife read an ad in UNCLE HENRY’S
weekly sale and swap magazine in Maine for New England
Solar Electric Inc. She sent for their free catalog.
I began to experiment and installed a small system
that would allow my computer usage without the need
of the generator. That was a small system and lasted
a month when I began upgrading the system.
In 6 months I had expanded the system to 16 -6 volt
batteries, two inverter/chargers and two 130 watt
solar panels. Currently we have 24 – 6 volt
batteries, 14 modules (2K array) and two 2400 watt
inverter/chargers.
We are now running our entire house with this system.
W e have a real home in the wilderness that includes
an electric refrigerator, washer and gas dryer,
TVs and computers etc.
We now can sit on our porch and hear the birds and
even the falling leaves. We see more wildlife and
the deer and moose often peek into our windows.
We live in the NOW of Nature.
Our friends and neighbors soon asked for help with
systems for their homes and that is how Moosehead
Solar was born.
Currently I have four experienced technicians to
install the solar powered systems in Maine and now
we are expanding the business into Florida.
We are a company committed to selling and installing
quality products to our customers. We work hard
to ensure that every customer is absolutely satisfied.
Customer satisfaction is our main goal. We have
a qualified team of technicians and offer 24 hour
assistance if needed.
